Ordering.co vs SkyTab

SkyTab POS, now called Shift4 Dine, combines restaurant POS hardware, payments, back-office tools, and online ordering. Ordering.co supplies customer channels, merchant operations, and delivery that can connect to supported systems. If the goal is a better direct channel rather than new registers, separate that decision from the POS, processing agreement, and hardware contract. Shift4 announced the rename on May 5, 2026, effective May 12, with continuity of existing products, accounts, integrations, and support. If you are searching for SkyTab, use Shift4 Dine when looking for current product documentation and support.

Why teams evaluate Ordering.co alongside SkyTab

Identify what needs to change outside the register before replacing the system inside it.

  • Choose the customer channels

Run a branded website, customer apps, kiosk, or phone-agent console against the same catalog. Select the surfaces your customers and staff will use.

  • Coordinate your own delivery team

Assign your drivers, track the order, and capture PIN, photo, signature, or video proof of delivery.

  • Build on the frontend and APIs

Extend your ordering experience with included open-source frontend code, APIs, and webhooks. Confirm each POS handoff; developer access alone does not establish compatibility.

Compare the operation behind the order

A POS bundle and an ordering platform have different responsibilities. Items marked not listed refer to the reviewed SkyTab offer, not every possible Marketplace extension.

Costs and scope to compare

Separate recurring software, equipment, processing, and implementation on the same proposal.

  • A bundle price is not the full bill

The U.S. SkyTab checkout example lists a Table Service Bundle at $29.99 per month, checked October 21, 2026. For current Shift4 Dine payment processing, request a written quote and merchant agreement covering rates, per-transaction charges, the selected processing program, and eligibility. Compare the devices and transaction mix in your actual offer; the bundle price does not establish the processing rate.

  • Promotions have conditions

SkyTab advertises a 12-month monthly-fee waiver for eligible Advantage merchants, up to four devices, subject to change. Ask for the post-promotion rate, processing terms, contract length, renewal, cancellation, and hardware return or replacement obligations in writing.

  • An independent channel needs a defined handoff

Do not treat a listed app marketplace or an API as proof that Ordering.co connects to your SkyTab installation. Confirm partner access, item identifiers, modifiers, taxes, status updates, and refunds; agree a fallback if a connection is unavailable.

Proven with enterprise brands.

Pilot the channel before changing the POS

Keep existing registers working while you establish whether the required ordering workflow and connection can be delivered.

What moves

  • Menu and order mapping

Map item identifiers, modifiers, tax handling, discounts, hours, pickup, and delivery. Decide which system publishes changes.

  • Accounts, equipment, and data

Record processing accounts, device agreements, export rights, and settlement obligations. Request customer and order exports without assuming passwords or saved cards transfer.

How the move runs

  1. Confirm the connection first

Agree supported access and who implements and supports the POS handoff. If it is not available, decide whether a separate merchant-order workflow fits.

  2. Test a representative service

Place a paid pickup and delivery order, reject a modifier, cancel an order, and reconcile the refund across the agreed systems.

  3. Move traffic after acceptance

Train the team, document outage handling, and change order links only after acceptance. Resolve contract and equipment obligations before cancelling a service.

No ready-made Ordering.co–SkyTab integration or universal processing portability is promised here. The project must establish both before launch.

Questions about SkyTab and Ordering.co

Is SkyTab POS now called Shift4 Dine?

Yes. Shift4’s May 5, 2026 announcement says SkyTab POS became Shift4 Dine on May 12. It describes continuity of the same products, account setup, integrations, reporting, and support channels. SkyTab remains useful as a search term for an existing installation; look for Shift4 Dine in current Shift4 documentation. The name change does not establish new commercial terms or an Ordering.co integration.

Is SkyTab only an online ordering service?

No. Its offer includes restaurant POS hardware, payments, staff and back-office tools, and SkyTab Online. Compare the full POS decision separately from the customer-facing channel.

Can we use Ordering.co and keep SkyTab POS?

That requires confirming the order handoff for your installation or agreeing a separate workflow. A compatible setup is a project requirement to demonstrate, not a connection this comparison guarantees.

What should we compare in the contract?

Include device count, monthly charges, processing, online transactions, partner subscriptions, implementation, renewal, cancellation, and hardware obligations. Compare the same order volume and payment mix with the Ordering.co proposal.
