Take orders in WhatsApp with an Ordering.co AI agent.

Put an Ordering.co AI agent on your WhatsApp Business number to answer menu questions and take orders, with conversations and results in the AI Agents dashboard.

WhatsApp carries the conversation. Ordering.co runs the order.

WhatsApp is where many customers already talk to businesses. Ordering.co puts an AI agent on that conversation, backed by your full ordering operation:

  • More products and features. More than 20 products and more than 1,500 features across websites, apps, marketplaces, kiosks, call centers, loyalty, and delivery.
  • Your own branded channels. WhatsApp works alongside your websites, apps, and kiosks, on the same catalog and stores.
  • Your design, not a template. Build an ordering experience with your own custom design, with help from our team.
  • Built to extend. APIs and MCP, with application source code available on eligible plans.

Why use WhatsApp Business with Ordering.co

  • Orders from a chat. The agent answers menu questions and takes orders without someone typing every reply.
  • The same catalog and stores. The agent works from the products, stores, and fulfillment options you already manage in Ordering.co.
  • A consistent brand voice. Assign each agent to a brand and set the language it speaks.
  • Results you can see. Track conversion rate and response time, and review every conversation and order.

What WhatsApp Business brings

WhatsApp describes its Business Platform:

  • Reach customers where they already are, in WhatsApp.
  • Two-way conversations across marketing, sales, and support.
  • Rich conversational flows with interactive buttons, product lists, and media.

How a WhatsApp order works

  1. The customer messages your WhatsApp Business number.
  2. The agent answers with your menu and collects the items, the store, and the pickup or delivery choice.
  3. The agent directs the customer to the payment step you configured.
  4. The order follows the store’s pickup or delivery process like any other order, and your team can review the chat and the order in AI Conversations.

Set up and go live

The Create a WhatsApp AI agent guide walks through each step:

  1. Open AI Agents and select Create Agent.
  2. Choose WhatsApp as the channel and assign the agent to a brand.
  3. Connect with WhatsApp Business Login, or enter your Channel External ID, Phone Number, and Access Token under Manual Credentials.
  4. Set the Agent Default Language.
  5. Select Test WhatsApp Agent, scan the QR code, and chat with the agent.
  6. Turn the agent on when its responses meet your standards.

Keep access tokens private. Enter them only in the Dashboard, never in emails, tickets, or shared documents.

More ways to use WhatsApp

  • AI Ordering Agents also take orders by voice, chat, and on the web.
  • WhatsApp order notifications keep customers updated on WhatsApp when their order is received and as its status changes.
  • Twilio sends login and sign-up codes by WhatsApp or SMS.
  • Stripe payment links for Call Center let staff send a payment link to a customer by SMS or WhatsApp.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What does the agent do in WhatsApp?

It answers menu questions and takes orders in the conversation, using the catalog, stores, and fulfillment options you configure. When the order is ready, it directs the customer to the payment step for that ordering journey.

How do I connect my WhatsApp number?

The recommended way is WhatsApp Business Login, a sign-in through Meta. You can also enter the channel external ID, phone number, and access token manually, which is useful for testing a secondary line.

Can I run different agents for different brands?

Yes. Each agent is assigned to a brand when you create it, and each has its own connection and default language.

Can I test the agent before customers use it?

Yes. Test WhatsApp Agent generates a QR code. Scan it to chat with the agent and check its menu answers and responses before you enable it.

How do I see how the agent performs?

Each agent card shows its conversion rate and average first response time. In AI Conversations you can filter chats, read transcripts, and open the orders placed through the agent.

Can I take the agent offline?

Yes. Use the Enable Agent toggle, for example during maintenance or when a location is out of stock. If you use manual credentials, keep the access token up to date, because an expired token takes the agent offline.

Is this the same as WhatsApp login codes?

No. This page covers an AI agent that talks with customers. Sending login and sign-up codes by WhatsApp is set up separately with Twilio.
