What Google Pay brings

Google and Stripe describe these capabilities on the Google Pay page and in Stripe’s Google Pay guide:

  • Cards already saved to a Google account, including cards used on Google Play, YouTube, Chrome, or an Android device.
  • Checkout with a click wherever customers see the Google Pay button, online and in apps.
  • Built-in security, with fraud alerts and encryption when paying online.

Where customers can pay

Google lists the countries and regions where customers can pay online and in apps on its Google Pay availability page. Stripe, which processes the payments, lists Google Pay for customers and Stripe accounts worldwide except India in its Google Pay guide. Stripe only shows Google Pay when the customer’s device and browser meet its requirements.

Google Pay payments are processed by Stripe under your Stripe terms. See Stripe’s current pricing for your country and payment methods.

Set up and go live

The Ordering.co Apple & Google Pay guide shows where the settings live:

  1. In the Ordering.co Dashboard, open Settings > Apple & Google Pay.
  2. Under Google Pay, enter your Stripe publishable and secret keys, and your sandbox keys.
  3. Activate the Google Pay sandbox and place test orders.
  4. Enable Google Pay in the payment methods of each business that should offer it.
  5. Turn the sandbox off when you are ready to take live payments.

Keep secret keys private. Enter them only in the Dashboard, never in emails, tickets, or shared documents.

  • Apple Pay gives customers on Apple devices the same fast checkout, also powered by Stripe.
  • Stripe accepts cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay with your own Stripe account.

How does Google Pay work in Ordering.co?

Google Pay is powered by Stripe. You enter your Stripe keys for Google Pay in the Dashboard under Settings > Apple & Google Pay, then enable Google Pay in the payment methods of each business that should offer it.

Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes. The Google Pay settings take Stripe publishable and secret keys, for live and sandbox use, so the payments run through Stripe. Stripe notes that integrating Google Pay means agreeing to Google's terms of service.

Can I test Google Pay before going live?

Yes. Activate the Google Pay sandbox and enter your sandbox keys. Google's test card suite and Stripe's test cards let you place test payments, as described in Stripe's Google Pay guide.

Will every customer see Google Pay at checkout?

No. Stripe only shows Google Pay when the customer's device and browser meet its requirements, and Google Pay availability depends on the customer's country or region. See Google's list of supported countries and regions.

What does Google Pay cost?

Payments are processed by Stripe under your Stripe terms. See Stripe's pricing for your country and payment methods.

What about Apple Pay?
