Why offer Apple Pay with Ordering.co

What Apple Pay brings

Apple describes these capabilities on its Apple Pay page:

  • Card numbers stay private. Apple does not share the customer’s actual card number with merchants or store it on Apple servers.
  • Every purchase is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode.
  • Payment across Apple devices, on websites and in apps, on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Where customers can pay

Customers can add cards to Apple Pay in the countries and regions Apple lists on its Apple Pay availability page, depending on their bank or card issuer. Stripe, which processes the payments, lists Apple Pay for customers and Stripe accounts worldwide except India in its Apple Pay guide. Stripe only shows Apple Pay when the customer’s device and browser meet its requirements.

Apple Pay payments are processed by Stripe under your Stripe terms. See Stripe’s current pricing for your country and payment methods.

Set up and go live

The Ordering.co Apple & Google Pay guide shows where the settings live:

  1. In the Ordering.co Dashboard, open Settings > Apple & Google Pay.
  2. Under Apple Pay, enter your Stripe publishable and secret keys, and your sandbox keys.
  3. Activate the Apple Pay sandbox and place test orders.
  4. Enable Apple Pay in the payment methods of each business that should offer it.
  5. If your Customer App offers Apple Pay, add the Merchant ID described in the guide to building your apps.
  6. Turn the sandbox off when you are ready to take live payments.

Keep secret keys private. Enter them only in the Dashboard, never in emails, tickets, or shared documents.

  • Google Pay gives Android and Chrome customers the same fast checkout, also powered by Stripe.
  • Stripe accepts cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay with your own Stripe account.

How does Apple Pay work in Ordering.co?

Apple Pay is powered by Stripe. You enter your Stripe keys for Apple Pay in the Dashboard under Settings > Apple & Google Pay, then enable Apple Pay in the payment methods of each business that should offer it.

Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes. The Apple Pay settings take Stripe publishable and secret keys, for live and sandbox use, so the payments run through Stripe.

Can I test Apple Pay before going live?

Yes. Activate the Apple Pay sandbox and enter your sandbox keys. Stripe explains in its Apple Pay guide that you test with a real card in your Apple Wallet and your test keys, and the card is not charged.

Will every customer see Apple Pay at checkout?

No. Stripe only shows Apple Pay when the customer's device and browser support it, and Apple Pay availability depends on the customer's country or region and card issuer. See Apple's list of supported countries and regions.

Does Apple Pay work in my customer app?

Yes. For a Customer App that uses Apple Pay, you create a Merchant ID in Apple Developer when you build the app. Ordering.co's guide to building your apps covers that step.

What does Apple Pay cost?

Payments are processed by Stripe under your Stripe terms. See Stripe's pricing for your country and payment methods.

What about Google Pay?

Google Pay is configured in the same Settings > Apple & Google Pay section, also powered by Stripe. See the Google Pay integration.
