Processing fees
Stripe charges its Terminal fees and reader prices directly to your Stripe account under your Stripe terms. See Stripe Terminal pricing for your country.
Set up and go live
- Make sure Stripe Terminal is available for your Stripe account, and order a Stripe smart reader.
- In the Stripe Dashboard, register a location and the reader, and copy the reader ID.
- Ordering.co installs the Stripe Terminal integration on your project and gives you the webhook address to add in Stripe.
- In the Ordering.co Dashboard, open Plugin settings > Stripe Terminal and enter your Stripe keys, webhook secret, and reader ID, for both sandbox and live.
- Keep sandbox mode on and place test orders with a test or simulated reader.
- When your tests pass, turn sandbox mode off to take real payments.
Keep secret keys private. Enter them only in the Dashboard, never in emails, tickets, or shared documents.

How it works
The order total goes to the reader, and the order follows the payment.
- 01The customer places the order
When the customer checks out at the kiosk, Ordering.co sends the order total to your Stripe reader.
- 02The customer pays on the reader
The customer presents their card on the reader, and Stripe processes the payment in your Stripe account.
- 03The order is confirmed
When Stripe confirms the payment, the order is placed. If no card is presented within three minutes, the payment expires and the order is not placed.

Which Ordering.co product uses Stripe Terminal?
Stripe Terminal takes in-person card payments at your Ordering.co kiosk. Customers order on the kiosk and pay on the Stripe reader connected to it.
Which card readers can I use?
The integration works with Stripe smart readers, such as the BBPOS WisePOS E, which connect to Stripe over the internet. Stripe's mobile Bluetooth readers are not used. You buy and register your readers with Stripe.
In which countries can I use Stripe Terminal?
You need a Stripe account in a country where Stripe offers Terminal readers, listed on this page. Reader models vary by country; check Stripe's reader availability before you order hardware.
What currency are customers charged in?
Customers are charged in the currency of the order. Your payout currency depends on your Stripe account.
What happens if the customer does not pay on the reader?
The payment expires after three minutes without a card, and the order is not placed. The same happens if the payment is declined.
Can I test before taking real payments?
Yes. Sandbox mode uses your Stripe test keys and a test or simulated reader, so you can check successful and failed payments before going live.
How is this different from the Stripe integration?
Stripe Terminal is for in-person payments on a card reader. For online payments in your web and app checkout, use the Stripe integration.
