How Google Maps works in Ordering.co

  1. You add your Google Maps API key in Settings > Maps.
  2. A customer starts typing an address on your website or app, and suggestions appear from the country you set.
  3. The chosen address is placed on the map and checked against the store’s delivery zones, so orders outside your coverage are stopped before they are placed.
  4. When no address is available yet, maps open on the default position you configured.

Set up and go live

The Ordering.co Google Maps API key guide walks through each step:

  1. Go to Google Maps Platform, select Get Started, choose your country, and accept the terms.
  2. Complete billing and enable only the services your platform needs.
  3. Restrict the key to your approved domains and to those services.
  4. In the Ordering.co Dashboard, open Settings > Maps, set Use Google Maps Alternative to No, and paste the key into Google Maps API Key.
  5. Set Enable Country-Specific Address Search, Default Map Latitude, and Default Map Longitude, then save.

More ways to use maps

What does Google Maps do in Ordering.co?

Your Google Maps key powers location features across your ordering channels, including address search, geocoding, and maps, which help customers find their address and keep delivery zones accurate.

Can I limit address suggestions to my country?

Yes. Set Enable Country-Specific Address Search to your country's two-letter code, such as US or MX, and address suggestions only show results from that country.

Where is the map centered when there is no address yet?

On the Default Map Latitude and Default Map Longitude you set in Maps settings. You can read those coordinates from Google Maps for any point.

Can I use Google geocoding for orders created in the Dashboard?

Yes. Turn on Use Google Geocode for Custom Orders to geocode addresses for custom orders created from the Dashboard.

Whose Google account is used?

Yours. You create the key in your own Google Maps Platform project, and Google bills that project for its usage.

How do I keep my key safe?

Restrict it to your approved domains and to the services you use, and never share it in screenshots, tickets, or documents. If a key is exposed, rotate it in your Google account.
