# Ordering.co vs Parrot

This comparison concerns Parrot Software’s restaurant POS in Mexico, operated under the ParrotConnect POS terms by S3 Software, not the drone brand. Parrot already connects restaurant sales, Parrot Pay, its own online-ordering module, delivery-platform orders, and management reporting. Ordering.co becomes relevant when your project focuses on branded customer ordering surfaces, your own driver workflow, or a multi-merchant business. Keep the counter and payment obligations explicit while comparing the next channel.

## What to evaluate beyond the register

- ### Build the customer-facing experience

Ordering.co connects a branded website, customer apps, and other ordering channels to the merchant workflow. Define how a returning customer finds the store, pays, follows the order, and contacts support, independently of the device at the counter.

- ### Operate your own delivery handoff

A delivery-platform order arriving at the POS and your own driver completing an order are different flows. Ordering.co supports drivers, assignment, communication, and delivery proof connected to the order.

- ### Keep room for a differentiated product

Use open-source ordering frontends, APIs, webhooks, and MCP to shape the customer experience. Plan the POS boundary so a frontend change does not silently change cash closing, card settlement, or fiscal responsibilities.

| Restaurant POS | Merchant App and Dashboard coordinate orders and stores; identify any counter hardware and fiscal systems retained in the project. | Parrot’s restaurant POS handles in-store sales, management reporting, inventory, and orders from delivery platforms in its Mexican offer. |
| Direct online ordering | Branded web and customer-app ordering connect the store, catalog, payment, and merchant workflow. | The Parrot terms describe PARROT Pedidos Online: a restaurant web menu, customer checkout, order reception in POS, and card processing through an external provider. Confirm module availability in your proposal. |
| Card collection | Connect the gateway and merchant accounts suited to your country. Define settlement, refunds, disputes, and fees without treating platform access as payment processing. | Parrot Pay connects payment collection and reconciliation to POS. Parrot states that partners and providers participate in the product; obtain the actual processing contract and fees. |
| Delivery-platform order intake | Connect supported providers to the order operation with an agreed scope. Marketplace demand and your own delivery workforce remain separate decisions. | The official site lists Rappi, Uber Eats, and DiDi Food connections. The Early offer specifies one delivery-app integration; confirm any additional channels. |
| Own drivers and proof | Driver App with availability, assignment, navigation, communication, and proof by PIN, photo, signature, or video. Define fleet and partner responsibilities for each service area. | Ask for the dispatch, driver, and proof workflow in your proposal; POS order intake alone does not establish those responsibilities. |
| Commercial and data boundaries | | |
| Entry offer and equipment | Evaluate agreed platform and implementation charges, usage, payment processing, delivery, and any custom work over the same operating period. | Early advertises MXN 949/month plus VAT for the first 12 months: one main POS/register, one brand, one additional station connection, one Pay terminal, and one delivery-app integration. Confirm hardware acquisition and renewal separately. |
| Customer records | Map customer identity, addresses, and permitted marketing use when importing into your owned channel. | The official customer report supports Excel export and separates brand/channel filters. Validate which fields and dates your account can export. |
| Hosting and account access | Managed infrastructure by default; enterprise packages can install the same backend in the customer’s AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Railway account. | The supplier terms describe SaaS access to ParrotConnect POS and web/mobile interfaces. A software subscription does not transfer backend ownership. |

“Not listed” means the capability does not appear in Parrot's product lineup. Confirm scope and terms with each provider.

## Boundaries to check before adding channels

- ### Introductory price and full equipment cost differ

Compare the first-year Early package with the number of registers, brands, stations, terminals, and delivery connections you actually need. Ask for the price after the introductory term, hardware purchase or rental, processing rates, and any extra installation work.

- ### Delivery orders have a cash-register destination

Parrot’s register help associates integration and delivery orders with the main register. Test how that rule affects a second register, reconciliation, tips, cancellation, and your kitchen workflow before adding another order source.

- ### Adding a storefront is not a fiscal migration

Keep the issuer, tax configuration, and historical fiscal records explicit. Verify which invoices and customer data can be retained or transferred rather than equating an operational order receipt with the required tax document.

## Proven with enterprise brands.

The platform you would run on already runs ordering for Alsea, a multi-brand restaurant group with more than 4,000 locations.

[Alsea runs WOW+ and ten restaurant brands on one ordering platform.Domino's, Starbucks, Burger King, Vips, and six more brands share one app, one website, call centers, and a delivery operation that assigns drivers automatically.**10** brands on WOW+**4,262** locationsMexico and ColombiaRead the Alsea story](https://www.ordering.co/customers/alsea/)

## Keep register reconciliation visible during the move

### What moves

- #### Menu, channels, and customer export

Inventory Parrot menu IDs, channel prices, modifiers, tax treatment, and customer Excel exports. Define which system owns each field after the move.

- #### Payments and register history

Keep settlement references, refunds, tips, and fiscal archives available. A new customer channel does not recreate a Parrot Pay transaction or migrate stored cards.

### How the move runs

1. #### Choose coexistence deliberately

If Parrot stays at the counter, scope a supported connection or controlled handoff. Do not assume an active Parrot-to-Ordering.co integration from the existence of delivery-platform connections.

2. #### Test the main register and kitchen

Run direct and platform orders, split payments, cancellation, refund, driver handoff, and end-of-day reconciliation. Confirm no duplicate tickets or mismatched totals reach staff.

3. #### Change the customer channel after acceptance

Train the team, switch web and QR entry points, and keep previous records accessible. Expand brands or locations after the first complete shift balances.

## Questions from Parrot buyers

Which Parrot does this comparison cover?

The Mexican restaurant software at parrotsoftware.com.mx and its ParrotConnect POS service terms. It is not the drone company or a similarly named comparison website.

Is Parrot only a cash register?

No. Its official offer also covers inventory, reporting, payments, and delivery-platform orders. Compare your required customer channels and delivery operation, not a reduced description of the POS.

Does the Early price include everything?

It is an introductory, bounded package. Confirm first-year term, hardware acquisition, additional registers or brands, delivery connections, renewal, and payment-processing charges in your agreement.

Do I have to replace Parrot to use Ordering.co?

A project may keep the POS and add a customer channel, but the connector and operating handoff must be agreed and tested. If no supported connection fits, include the manual work or replacement in the decision.
